Who Emptied the Big Blue Bowl?

None of my greyhounds will get in the kiddie pool when there is water in it.  They seem to think its just an outside water bowl.  Today I drained the water, and in they went.  Well, except  for Veil, who still didn't trust that water wouldn't somehow appear.

Week-end Dilema

This weekend is the annual greyhound picnic for the adoption group where I adopted my three greys.  Last year, we took Beckett and Veil.  Maddy wasn't with us yet.  I agreed to do the nail clipping and ear cleaning booth again this year but I am thinking of leaving my guys home instead of having them have to watch the excitement again from the ex-pen.  As much as I love showing them off, it doesn't seem fair to them and they really weren't happy about it.

Last year.

Happy Campers!

This is Maddy, telling you about our adventure this weekend!
I didn't know what was going on yesterday when Mama started packing up stuff (including toys, treats and food).  To tell you the truth I was a little wary of the whole thing.   Beckett started sticking to her like glue and bouncing around so I figured it couldn't be all bad and Veil said she knew where we were going but she wouldn’t tell me.  It was a surprise!!

We all loaded into the jeep and off we went.  We arrived at a place with lots of funny looking houses made of canvas and other ones with wheels.  Ours was the last one in the row and Mr. J was already there waiting for us.  There were lots of things to see and hear and smell.  Kids playing, dogs barking (not us of course - well maybe once or twice), steaks and hamburgers grilling!  Veil told me that she and Beckett stayed here all summer last year.

Better than watching TV!
I watched Beckett and Veil hop up into the trailer and now I am just as good at it as they are.  When we got in, there was 3 brand new dog beds for us.  I picked the one where you can see out the screen door and watch what’s happening.  Veil called “dibs” on another bed.  She did get to sleep there too, but just like home she had to share it.
This is where I'm sleeping!

Beckett and Veil had a good place to watch from too.

Next time I hope it doesn't rain so we can get outside more but all in all I enjoyed myself and I didn't even need my thundershirt once!

I was happy to get home though and ran right in and checked out the house to make sure everything was where I left it.  Now I need a sleep...

The Murder of Mr. Hedgehog

The crime scene

The culprit

yeah, I did it.
In my defence, he was trying to take my blanket... and don't worry, the death announcement was premature. Mama did surgery on him and gave him (and all the stuffies) a bath.  It will take me days to get them all stinky again.

Rainy Day

It's a rainy day today, so we are taking it easy.  I (sort of) feel sorry for all the people going to the U2 concert here at Magnetic Hill today in the rain, but at least they won't get sunburned. Beckett has been limping on and off for a little while now and I have been trying to keep him from running around too much, since he seems to forget the limp every so often.  It's also a long weekend in New Brunswick so one lazy day is OK.  Veil is going to snuggle down with the afghan her nanny knit and read what everyone else is up to on the Saturday Pet Blogger Hop.

Adventures in Daddy Sitting

So Mr. J has been on vacation this week and next week too.  My vacation was cancelled due to some changes at the office, "sigh".  Beckett, Veil and Maddy have been trying hard to keep him entertained while I'm at work.  Usually he is gone to work when we get up in the morning and I get home from work before him so they really aren't that used to him being around with them alone.   I guess today Veil decided it would be a good day to get the tummy troubles that only grass-eating can fix, in her opinion, and then proceeded to make a production of gagging and hurling it up.

Mr. J - Veil, eating that is gonna make you puke you know.
Veil - Of course I know, why do you think I'm eating it...?
Mr. J - Well at least do it outside, please.
Veil - We will see, sometimes it makes me feel better if I do it on the carpet.

Then he took Beckett out to have a pee.

Mr. J. - Beckett, your foot, buddy, you're peeing all over it!
Beckett - Whaatt?  I thought the grass was just wet...
Mr. J - Didn't you notice it was warm and just that one foot?
Beckett - Mama never calls me out on that, we just pretend it didn't happen and move on.

and in the midst of it, Maddy decided she might be getting anxious...

Mr. J - Maddy, do you want your thundershirt on?
Maddy - Do you know how to do it?
Mr. J - It's a shirt with velcro, I think I can figure it out.
Maddy - I think a few treats and some carrots would fix me right up, instead. You get the treats and I'll stand here looking miserable while you feed them to me.

I would still rather be home with them...
