Every once and awhile, just when I think I have it all figured out, I get shot back to the reality that I really don't. This week had one of those days in it. One of those days when you think, "why did I do that, I know better". Oh well, I learned my lesson and the lesson was, don't walk two high-prey drive girls together after dark past a house with a small white dog outside. To say it was embarassing is an understatement. They squealed, they howled, they lost their minds...certainly not a good display of canine etiquette. So, now we work on the "pass-by" and the "leave-it" commands and try to do better next time.
When we got home, the conversation went like this:
Me - well, I hope you two are happy with yourselves!
Veil - I don't know what you are talking about...we didn't catch that little white thing. You know I was trained for that.
Me - Veil, you only raced in 5 races AND you are retired!! AND it was not a fake rabbit!!
Maddy - You seem upset, maybe you should take some of my herbal calmer.
Me - Maybe so, Maddy, maybe so. Ok, so we all learned a lesson here right? You don't act like hyenas in public and I won't put you in a situation you can't handle.
I love that "who me?" look in the first picture. That is a familiar look in our house. Usually followed by an "Aww, I can't stay mad at you." And, yes, I get that look from both my dog and my husband with pretty much the same result. I'm a sucker for the doe eyes.
ReplyDeleteThis is hilarious, especially the conversation at home :-)
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Oh, this cracked me up! It's almost as good as the time we were attacked by a killer rabbit one night that turned out to be a chihuahua. If it makes you feel better, I had my own embarrassing moment this week.
ReplyDeletehhahah and here I have a greyhound who thinks cats are friends and playbows at them! fortunately the kitties know better than to play with her, I think they know what her favorite game is....
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures and a funny story. I had an embarrassing moment while walking Thumper...as a retriever, if a bird moves, he thinks he needs to get it, and we turned a corner and found a flock of ducks. I have never seen such a ruckus....ducks quacking, flapping wings, flying, dog barking and jumping and whining. What a scene...he may never have the privilege of walking off a leash.
ReplyDeleteHello. I saw you on Never Say Never Greyhounds blog and thought I'd drop by. Funnily enough I've just been involved in a bit of disturbance with a Yorkshire Terrier whilst on my walk. He started it! I just shouted back he'd look good in a sandwich. Hehe! Deccy
ReplyDeleteOh no! Nothing like waking up the neighborhood. Live and learn, right?
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, although Frankie and Beryl can't really do doe eyes like Veil and Maddy. Their thing is cats. The other night I spied one wanting to cross the road in front of us, so we all turned around and there was one wanting to cross the road behind us!! Sheesh. We all got home safely though:)
