Up and at 'em

I really, really wanted to sleep in this morning... I woke up once at 5:30, realized it was Saturday and happily went back to sleep until 7:15 when I jumped out of bed like a shot having woken up to that familiar sound of a hound throwing up.  Apparently Maddy's stomach didn't like breakfast being an hour late and retaliated.  Nothing like that to get you going, especially when the yellow bile is hitting the beige carpet.  Add cleaning that up to the to-do list.  Anyway, it turned out to be a beautiful, sunny morning and we got out to enjoy some sunshine.

  1. Fred is the same way in the morning if he doesn't eat right away! It always adds a little something to your morning cleaning up the slime! LOL!

  2. We used to have the same thing happen with our dogs if we were late in feeding them. Our strategy now is that we don't have a set time that we feed them. It keeps them from pestering us too much, and they don't get sick if we're "late" with breakfast or dinner.

I love seeing your hounds playing in the snow!!!!

    1. That would be nice! Maddy is pretty militant about everything being on schedule here...

  3. Look at all that snow! The weather is crazy here in northern Indiana. It's like spring. Beckett looks like he is having a good time with his toy.

    1. We hadn't had any snow for most of the winter - now we seem to be getting some every weekend. Beckett loves to run around in it.

  4. Poor you. i know the feeling of waking up to that sound, feline version.
My daughter had her cat pestering her to be fed. As the cat would eat all day long, her meals had to be monitored. The solution was an automatic feeder, delivering food twice a day. The bad guy is now the feeder, no more pestering, and no early wake up on Sundays...

  5. I'm 50/50 on being able to jump out of bed fast enough to get them to a non-carpeted area, so cleanup is easier. Luckily, my kids stay in bed until we get up. Especially on the weekends.

    1. Mine seem to run to the only room with carpet to do it.

  6. That's the worst sound in the world, isn't it?! Oh, I hate that wake up! We often give our dogs a treat at bedtime and that usually carries them over until morning. Since we have the puppy here, too, we get a few Kongs ready the night before when we want to sleep in and give that to him to pacify him so we can get more shut eye.

    1. I give them a lunch before bed every night; but I have to remember if they have had a good run during the day, they need more I guess.

  7. Sleeping in is great but the throw up alarm clock tears one out of the bed quickly! We do the late night treats too when we know that we are going to sleep in or should I say try to sleep in - you never know.

All of the snow in your photo takes our breath away! What fun!

  8. I'm lucky because neither Frankie or Beryl are early risers. They get up when I do and go outside to the toilet then come back in and get back on my bed for some more shut eye. Having said that, they only have to imagine I might be going to do something fun and they're by my side at the speed of light, lol! Glad you got to enjoy your day after the clean up! Yellow bile is disgusting!
